Xfree86 with Geforce 4 ti 4400

Anyone get X up with a high end geforce card? The xf86cfg --textmode allows me to select this card and use the nv server, but all i get is scrambled stuff in X. Have to ctrl-alt-backspc quick so i dont fry monitor :P I know it should work, since a lot of people seem to get it going, but im at a lost.
Only thing i can think of is that im using an apple studio display flatscreen and its not liking it for some reason. Though i have used it in slackware with the binary nvidea drivers.

I seem to remember that KrUsTy! is using a GeForce in his FreeBSD machine at home, I think he has had some problems with it but I also seem to remember that he might of got most of them worked out. Maybe he'll stop by and enlighten us.
