Cheers,
I'm looking for a BSD distro with good SMP support. If I understand correctly, Open dosn't have SMP support, so I'm mainly wondering about Net vs. Free. Has anyone had any experience with either, positive or negative?

Just a note, I'm using Linux now, and its too damn fuzzy!

All the experience I've had with FreeBSD using SMP has been positive, have used it on two boxes (one of which is production one of which is a test server) without any problems so far, using both dual and quad cpu setups. Best of luck on it if you go down the FreeBSD path, have no idea about NetBSD's handling of SMP, however I presume that with their portablitiy it'd have SMP well covered.

Best of luck

NetBSD has SMP for i386 in current and it's supposed to be on par with FreeBSD 4.x. FreeBSD 5.x has an all new SMP setup and is supposed to be improving all the time.

FreeBSD is probably going to be the better choice unless you have a dual PPC or SPARC (not 64) box. 8)
