Ok, got this installed on 3.4 the performance is LOUSY. Is there any tweaks to get this to play at normal speed? Its running on an Athlon 2200 with 512 ram and a ATI Radeon 7500.

Mplayer absolutely flew on same box in fbsd with a nvidia card....

Im getting the following errors in the console:

Try some of the optimization options, I know that on FBSD mplayer compiles with cpu detection which means it is not optimized by default. Try mucking around with some of the options in the Makefile.

are you using xv? I just remember somone says mplayer w/o xv sucks... not sure what thats aboot though.
