Freebsd running postfix-1.1.11,1 and courier-imap-1.5.3 . Can I safely do a portupgrade on these without fouling things up? Also using Squirrelmail FYI.

Also, I want to use SSL. I know I need to generate a cert, is there anything I must edit anywhere else to have this work?

Dont think anything special is needed..

portupgrades only tend to boof a package if a var is added to the make command. when things are in that case you can just edit the pkgtools.conf to tell it to pass those args in future portupgrades.

make sure to backup your confs for postfix in particular. lots of changes from the postfix 1.x branch and the 2.x branch. Several things will likely be deprecated in your new install.

Though postfix is relatively painless to configure.

Thanks guys....I want thinking. I might not go to Postfix 2 at this time. I then have to change my header_checks and some other things. Not wanting to do that now but I will upgrade Courier and do SSL.
