If I recreate a user, move its data from Linux to OBSD, then if I copy exact hashed user password from /etc/shadow, would that be useable on BSD? So that users won't even noticed I've switched the OS? Not that it's important, I just want to surprise them. :icon_smil

I've moved users around in the BSDs a bit but hadn't tried BSD<-->Linux yet. I did a little googling and it took me to the OpenBSD FAQ (http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq9.html#passwd). I have to give props to OpenBSD for such a complete FAQ.
This looks very straightforward and you should be able to surprise you users. :silly:
