Does anybody know what's up with these core dump files I get in my home directory?

They look like they may be xscreensaver related. Is there anything I can do about them to fix it? I tried deinstalling & reinstalling xscreensaver but they still comes back.

I'm using FreeBSD 5.3 and have ran portupgrade.

Thnx.

Just delete those files. Those dumps are for developers wanting to diagnose bugs in the application. Most likely it's a certain setting or screensaver that is causing it. Just wait for the upgrade, and you might think about sending the dump file to the developers.

I ran into the same thing and deinstalled xscreensaver. I'm using xlockmore now since it has most of the same modules and isn't having a problem

You can always tell the files are coming from whichever program since the name of the application will be the first part with a .core on the end.
