I'm trying to use IMAP on Kmail and get various errors at times. If I check the server to see what it supports, I get a "Can't read .". When I choose to fetch mail from the IMAP server, I get an error "Could not start process for IMAP". If I start from a terminal, this goes with that error:

kmail: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'imap'.
kmail:

I upgraded kdenetwork, and deinstalled and reinstalled kdelibs. No change. I would use my default mail client, but KMail is needed for our groupware. Has anyone has this problem? Google isn't showing anything useful. Just people having trouble starting to use IMAP.

I had something similar on Archlinux while trying to browse my winbox from Konqueror - "Unknown protocol 'smb'". Ended up installing samba on the linBox, problem went away.

I saw a debian mailing list reference to a 'kdepim-kio-plugins'...
