I figured I would make this thread, so that new BSD users could see what some of us use to make our perfect BSD workstation build. Simply put your BSD type, and version, and the list of applications you use with the port name (As tempting as it might be, let's try to refrain from posting OS X builds ;) ):
FreeBSD 6.2 Workstation
Desktop Environment: GNOME
Window Manager: Beryl/Emerald
Application List (All GTK/Java Based Apps so far):
azureus - Azureus Java Based Torrent Client
blender - Blender 3D Modeling and Rendering Environment
firefox - Firefox Web Browser
gimp - Graphic Image Manipulation Program
gnome-pilot - PDA Syncing Utility
gnucash - Finance Manager
linux-firefox - Firefox Web Browser under Linux Emulation
linux-flashplugin7 - Shockwave Flash plugin for Firefox
linux-mplayerplug-in - MPlayer Plug-In for Firefox
minicom - Comm Terminal Application for connection to system like a Soekris via null modem cable(Use to use another one that I liked better, but never could find it again :( )
openoffice.org-2 - OpenOffice suite (Office applications)
rhythmbox - Audio Player
xchat - X-Chat IRC Client
vim - Command line text editor with syntax highlighting
I'm still looking for a few apps, but I'll update them as they get installed. ;)
