First of all here are some quick links which you should read if you run into any trouble, the majority of questions which you will come across have already been answered in the links provided below:

I've been looking into the PCTEL modems and so far I have found nothing that would point to there being a driver for the FreeBSD OS, however I did run across this thread (http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=96898+0+archive/2002/freebsd-mobile/20020915.freebsd-mobile) it appears that there has been some work done in this area though this was back in 2002 and I do not know wether the author ever released his work or whether he gave up. In any event search google and best of luck :).
EDIT: PCTEL seems to offer binary drivers for GNU/Linux there is no support for FreeBSD, if you'd like to use your modem you can always install Linux. Sorry :(

I have Redhat Linux 8 and it does not recognize my modem. I tryed and tryed over again to configure my modem in Redhat and i got no luck. I even have the Linux on CD and it's sitting here in front of me. Can you please help me configure my modem in Redhat?? I think i seen a hardware forum in either this forum or linuxjunior.org. I have a modem in mind so i'm going to make a post in the hardware forum. If you want you could help with that. Thanks.
