ok so i was doing some daily admin stuff on my server today and realized my postfix queue is filling up..

so i looked in the maillogs and it said connection timed out..

Well WTF

so i tried telnetting into various SMTP servers and i could not get crap...

so after a little research i found out my ISP COX is now blocking Outgoing SMTP to anything other than their SMTP servers... Well WTF....

http://www.cox.com/GainesvilleOcala/CoxHighSpeedInternet/Port25BlockFAQ.asp

How can i tell postfix to send all outgoing email to another (COX's) SMTP server.

relay_host in the conf file

transport maps can be quite useful in this way as well:

thanks for the info.......

still drives me nuts i cant go out on port 25 anymore......

what kinda world are we living in where our ISP's govern how we experience the internet...

just because some schmuck has relaying open and gets attacked by spammers thats the schmucks fault not ours....

wanna fight spam then setup a good mailserver ... dont restrict people...

Thats not all Cox pulls. Some areas they block port 80, and some higher number ports needed for cisco vpn. Unless you shell out the $100+ a month for their "Business" deal. I just run everything on non standard ports and call it good =)

hehehe you ever notice my site runs off port 81

now you know why....

they origionaly started blocking port 80 because of the code red virus..
