Anyone been successful on loading 3.3 on a v 100?

I've had no success at all, I can boot up partition and install but upon successful installation a reboot reveals an error I get:

The file just loaded does not appear to be executable

Hrmmm... Firmware code levels are up to date, the load sees the kernel, I've tried 3.3 release both bsd and bsd.rd and the snapshot from Friday Aug. 8th no success.

Any ideas?

well.... I feel a little silly now. Forgot that newer firmware versions default to disk0:f not disk0:a so a simple

boot disk0:a works followed by setting up the environment variable:

setenv boot-device disk0:a

doh!

I had a similar thing with my alpha and an ide drive. It was jumpered as a slave and coming up as dqa1 instead of dqa0. I could have just changed the variable for mine but just moved the jumper.

I have serial cable hooked up to it do I just fired up minicom and booted manually (ctrl-c, boot dqa1) until I could get home and change the jumper. I love working with "real" hardware. Just try to get into the bios remotely on a cheapy x86 system and fix anything.
