Just thought I'd have a whinge about installing 4.8 on my Alpha. Darn hard drive threw itself on the floor a week ago, got the new drive installed, downloaded the mfsroot and kern floppies but the damn FTP install doesn't load a kernel!
Anyone had this issue before?
Here's another oddity - Downloaded the floppies from ftp2.au.freebsd.org and the machine panics when running newfs. Download the floppies from any other mirror, don't have that problem. Checksums on the two sets of floppies are identical.
