Is there a way to install NetBSD over passive FTP?

read the manpage on ftp for netbsd. OpenBSD you can set and environment of FTPMODE to passive. I think FreeBSD has a FTP_PASSIVE_MODE environment, and im not sure on Net offhand.

I'm assuming you mean install NetBSD in IA-32 hardware. You need to download two floppy disk images and write them out then boot from them to get into sushi (the installer) it will let you ftp the rest.

Docs are here:

ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.6.1/i386/INSTALL.html

The stuff you need is in here:
